I love me some buffalo wings!😃, but then, one never knows the ingredients or even the number of calories in there.  The electric pressure cooker (and the Instant Pot brand for some) makes it possible to whip up these delicacies without sweating much.  What I love the most when trying out instant pot recipes is the almost guarantee that my buffalo chicken wings, or any other dish for that matter, will not burn beyond recognition.

I've made chicken buffalo wings in the oven before, and the sauce would burn and leave the wings black (not as appetizing like my buffalo chicken wings from the pressure cooker):

Instant Pot Chicken wings - preparation

You can save time by buying already trimmed wings - but all ready-made things tend to cost a bit more.  I save in the long term by learning to do things by myself, as much as it is possible. Trimming chicken wings is all about knowing where to cut (as shown in the pic below:

This Instant Pot chicken wings recipe takes very little to put together, as well as the shortest duration you can even imagine. You may wonder how it is possible to achieve the crisp texture that all buffalo wings should have. Once cooked to perfection in your pressure cooker, or Instant Pot, a short time in the oven will help them to dry a bit and become crisp.

  • 1 tsp garlic powder (divided)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup water
  • Sliced celery (for serving)
For the Buffalo Wing Sauce:

How to cook Buffalo Chicken Wings (Instant Pot)

  1. Sprinkle wings with the garlic powder and season with salt and black pepper, to taste. Place the metal trivet inside Instant Pot® and add one cup of water. Arrange seasoned wings on top of the trivet before securing the cover in place. Switch the vent to “Sealing” and adjust the “Manual” setting to 8 minutes.
  2. While the wings cook, whisk Frank’s hot sauce, melted butter, and remaining garlic powder in a medium bowl until thoroughly combined. Set aside.
  3.  When done cooking, allow pressure to naturally release for 10 minutes, then do a quick release for any remaining steam. Carefully remove lid and transfer
  4. wings to a large bowl. Set aside until just cool enough to handle.
  5. Meanwhile, position the top oven rack in the top position and preheat broiler to high. Line a large, rimmed baking sheet with aluminum foil and place a wire cooling rack on top. Set aside.
  6. Pour 1/3 of the buffalo sauce on top of the wings and toss to coat. Transfer the wings to the wire rack on the prepared baking sheet and place under the broiler for 3-4 minutes or until the wings start to get crispy and develop some color. Turn the wings and repeat this process.
  7. Remove baking sheet from oven and toss the wings with half of the remaining buffalo sauce. Serve immediately with sliced celery and the remaining sauce on the side for dipping. Enjoy!
