Why hobbies for stay at home moms? Stay at home moms, just like working moms, sacrifice a lot for the sake of their families. Like everything else, there is stress and tiredness involved. Pursuing a hobby may be just the ticket to less stress for the mom.

Why do stay at home moms need hobbies?

Take time out for yourself with these hobbies for stay at home moms. Even one hour a week doing those things that focus on you, will leave your refreshed and ready to tackle your mom duties.
Have some "me time" with these mom hobbies

You’d think it to be a strange question, but I can assure you that people romanticize what it means to be at home with your kids. I home-school my children, a vocation that I treat as an extension of my parenting duties. I also do blogging as a home business.
I spend the majority time of my life with my children, which is very fulfilling. It is easy though to fall into the trap of neglecting oneself and not spending much time on your interests.

  1. Having a hobby relieves stress and tension – spending time on a hobby replaces negative thoughts and replaces them with positive thoughts and feelings. Having a hobby or creative outlet can lift your spirits and help with depression. Unlike passive activities like television viewing, a hobby provides intellectual stimulation while simultaneously relaxing you. Repetitive actions like those used in knitting are especially calming.
  2. Hobbies help you parent better – we are good at signing our children up for lessons and classes and encouraging them to have hobbies. But we forget that we also need to learn new things and grow as people.
  3. Hobbies also connect you with other like-minded people. A hobby can help you maintain your separate identity as a real person. This models healthy habits and boundaries for our kids.
  4. Hobbies provide a welcome change to your daily routine. The no.1 frustration for stay at home moms is the mistaken feeling of non-achievement. In past generations, women sew, knitted, gardened, etc out of necessity. Completing these tasks did provide one with a sense of achievement. It’s important to choose hobbies that give you this sense of achievement.
